A total fluff piece....

I'm not big into celebrity gossip ( that's Beth's job, she keeps me informed). The only man I recognized on dancing with the stars was old Buzz Aldrin.
But, since I live in Nashville, I recognize most country music artists, even if I don't listen to them. Lady Antebellum I both recognize and listen to. In some older posts I talked about the flood at my son's school, and the fact that Hillary Scott is an alumni. (here and here) Lady Antebellum showed up at the school to make a donation for the restoration efforts.

I just thought it was cool to see them with our headmaster.

That one guy is really tall....

Lady Antebellum visits!

If you have read my blog at all during the month of May, you know my oldest son's school was completely underwater in the flood. They have been attending class in local churches to finish out the school year.
(Post here.)
Yesterday, they had a special visitor. Hillary Scott, from Lady Antebellum, came to see the 4th graders.

One of Jackson's friends, Preston, got to play and sing with her!!

Hillary attended DCA, so I guess she was checking in on her alma mater.

When I picked up the kids at carpool, they were all starstruck. They had autographs on anything and everything.

Preston's mom posted a video on Facebook, but I couldn't post it here. ( Well, I didn't know how :)

Beth's Blog--Nashville's Big Flooding Problem

I'm going to link up to my neighbor Beth's blog today. She has some things to say that I couldn't agree with more.
Where is all the help that normally pours into a city when something like this takes place?
There are so many people that have lost so much, and they have no idea what to do. I met a lady in a store today that has lost everything. She was about 70, and staying a motel while she could afford it. She has no idea where to go for help, and our city government is doing all it can. (their offices are flooded too!)
Luckily, Nashville is full of good people, and great churches, willing to do whatever it takes. I believe in personal responsibility, in depending on your neighbor and your church instead of the government, but there is only so much we can do.
I guess if we had riots in the street, and widespread looting we would be on the news and the Red Cross would be pouring in.
My in-laws in Ohio didn't even know about it, but they could hear all about the speech Obama gave at the White House Correspondants Dinner.
I saw news coverage of a guy running thru a baseball game on the national news this morning, but nothing about nashville being submerged in nasty river water.
I don't EVER blog about this stuff, but today is an exception.
If I sound mad, it's because I am.

Water, Water everywhere.

I had a blog post ready to publish, but it doesn't seem appropriate.

Nashville is flooded in a way I can hardly describe. Unless you have access to our local news coverage, it's hard to explain exactly how bad it is.

My neighbor ( a much better blogger than I) has more pictures here. She even has a picture of my Jackson's school. It's bad.

Semi's swept off the interstate.

Buildings floating down the interstate.

People being rescued from their homes in motorboats, even kayaks.

People being pulled from trees.

I know this is no Katrina, or Haiti, but it's right down the street from my family.

We have had a little damage, but I WILL NOT complain about it.

We are so very lucky.

This is the barn across from our Chik-fil-a. (Yes, we have a barn across from Chik-fil-a on a busy street. This is Nashville after all...) There are usually lots of horses roaming around. Hope they are safe.

Please pray for all the nashvillians that have been devastated this weekend.
